Dr. Steve Hendler is from the San Francisco Bay area and graduated from University of California – Berkeley, earning a B.A. in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He obtained his medical degree at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, as well as his internal medicine residency training. He completed his gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship training at Stanford Medicine.


Dr. Hendler is a board-certified gastroenterologist who specializes in general gastroenterology, colorectal cancer prevention, and high-risk cancer syndromes, as well as endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures.

He is an active member of American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.


Dr. Hendler believes that “communication is the most essential step to a successful patient-physician relationship. Each interaction is a chance to educate and share the decision-making process to achieve the most optimal outcome.”

In Dr. Hendler’s free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two wonderful children, traveling, and swimming.
