Sarah Gilfillan is a physician associate (PA) who was raised in Naperville, IL. She received a B.S. in Health Sciences and a minor in Biology at Saint Louis University. She continued her education at Saint Louis University and completed her Masters of Medical Science to become a PA.

Prior to joining MDHN, Sarah practiced as a physician associate in gastroenterology at a hospital in the south side of Chicago. Her focus was general gastroenterology with both inpatient and outpatient experience.


Sarah is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology and Gastroenterology and Hepatology Advanced Practice Provider Association.


Sarah became interested in GI after her younger sister was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and spent numerous weeks in the hospital supporting her and helping her recover from multiple surgeries. She is passionate about the psychosocial issues involved with patient’s living with gastrointestinal diseases

Sarah believes  “As a physician assistant, I believe in high quality patient care that is individualized to each patient and their needs. I am passionate about creating an environment in which education and resources are incorporated in every visit to help empower patients. I value a team-based approach where timely access is possible and collaboration is present.”


In Sarah’s free time, she loves trying new restaurants, enjoying the lakefront, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends
